President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to visit Kebbi State on Wednesday to commiserate with the state government and reassure parents and guardians of the abducted schoolgirls that the federal government is committed to securing their immediate release.

In a statement issued Tuesday, President Tinubu also extended heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian military following the death of several soldiers, including Brigadier General Musa Uba, who were killed in action during counter-insurgency operations in Borno State. He praised their bravery, describing them as heroes who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation.

The President, fully briefed by military authorities on both incidents, expressed deep sadness over the abduction of the schoolgirls, noting that it occurred despite prior intelligence warning of an imminent attack. He commended Kebbi State Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts made to avert the tragedy and for his swift response after the incident.
