Chrisland students emerge best in Cambridge, IGSCE exams

Two students of Chrisland Schools, Oluwabukolami Adeyemi and Mmesomachukwu Okonkwo recently emerged ‘Tops in the World’ in the Cambridge International AS Level and International General Certificate of Secondary Education(IGSCE) examinations respectively.

Experts list gains of open, distance learning

Prominent scholars and higher education professionals from across the world recently gathered at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to discuss the transformative potential of open and distance learning, especially in the technology-driven era of the fourth industrial revolution.

Speakers at the second international colloquium, held by the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) of the institution and themed: ’Hybridisation of instructional deliveries in the emerging global higher education ecosystem,” encouraged universities to embrace the open and distance learning system, Former Vice Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof Olugbemiro Jegede, who chaired the event, underscored the imperativeness of keying into digital technology for the provision of higher education services.

The 1998 set of St Anthony’s Model College Alumni Association has elected an interim executive committee that would steer the leadership of the association for the next couple of years.

Mr. Mathew Izediunor was elected president in a unanimous decision during the association’s general meeting held virtually. Other elected members of the committee include: Anthony Chiedu Okafor as vice president; Emeka Okafor- general secretary; Victor Nwuzor-treasurer; Ebu-Mordi Boniface-special duties and protocols; Ifeadi Victor- logistics director and Awunor Ogor as publicity secretary.

Community high school, Lekki shines at 2023 Tolaram Science challenge

Community Senior High School, Lekki, has emerged the winner of the 2023 Tolaram Science Challenge (TSC), leading Magbon Alade Senior Grammar School to the second position at the grand finale of the competition.

The competition, which was sponsored by the Lagos Free Zone, is an annual science-based competition for schools located within the Ibeju-Lekki axis of Lagos, where Free Zone is situated.

A former Dean of the School of Transport and Logistics, Lagos State University(LASU) Ojo, Professor Samuel Odewunmi, has advised the government at all levels as well as the school administrators and teachers to bring the good maintenance culture and value system back to schools at all levels in the country.

Doing this, he said, would greatly help the country in protecting school infrastructures and also enhancing quality teaching and learning.
