The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has reinforced its drive to modernise its examination system, announcing major strides in digital innovation, capacity building, and partnerships aimed at producing a more skilled Nigerian workforce.
Speaking in Benin City, Edo State, during the release of the 2025 November/December NBC/NTC and ANBC/ANTC examination results, NABTEB Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, said the board is aligning its reforms with the Federal Government’s vision of transforming Nigeria into a hub for skilled talent under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He highlighted the board’s improved efficiency, noting that the results were released just 64 days after the last paper and only 24 days after marking was completed — a turnaround he described as a clear sign of NABTEB’s commitment to excellence.
According to Mohammed, growing public confidence in NABTEB examinations is evident in the numbers, with enrolment rising by 28.42 per cent and the number of examination centres increasing by 13.92 per cent.
Performance data from the examinations also painted an encouraging picture. A total of 34,060 candidates, representing 60 per cent, obtained five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics.
Meanwhile, 54,009 candidates — 94.74 per cent — secured five credits and above with or without English and Mathematics.He noted that while there was a slight variation compared to the 2024 results — where 67.56 per cent earned five credits including English and Mathematics and 95.94 per cent achieved five credits with or without the two core subjects — overall performance remains strong.
On examination integrity, Mohammed revealed that 259 candidates, representing 0.42 per cent of those who sat for the exams, were involved in malpractice. This marks a slight drop in percentage terms compared to 2024, when 256 candidates, or 0.53 per cent, were implicated.
The NABTEB boss said the board will continue strengthening its systems to ensure credible assessments while equipping Nigerian youths with relevant 21st-century technical and business skills needed in today’s global economy.
