Leading British boarding schools will meet with Nigerian families in March as part of the United Kingdom Boarding Schools Week 2026, with exhibitions scheduled to hold in Abuja and Lagos.
The events are organised by Mark Brooks Education, led by Mr. Mark Brooks, a UK Department for Business and Trade Export Champion with more than 17 years of experience advising Nigerian families on British education.
In a statement issued on Monday, Brooks said the programme is designed to give parents and students the opportunity to interact directly with heads of schools and gain deeper insight into academic pathways within the British boarding school system.
“This programme enables parents and students to meet school heads, explore academic pathways and gain first-hand insight into British boarding education,” he said.
“Families attending will be able to speak directly with schools offering outstanding academic results, strong pastoral care and vibrant co-curricular programmes, all within welcoming international communities.”
The Abuja exhibition will take place on March 4 at the Transcorp Hilton, while the Lagos event is scheduled for March 7 at The George Hotel, Ikoyi. Some participating schools will also hold pre-arranged meetings and a smaller follow-up exhibition on the afternoon of March 8.
According to Brooks, the exhibitions form part of a broader engagement programme that includes school visits, student presentations, leadership workshops and parent information sessions across both cities.
He noted that the initiative helps families better understand how British boarding schools support not only academic achievement but also social and personal development.
Participating institutions include Bromsgrove School, Canford School, Cardiff Sixth Form College, Dean Close School, Downside School, Lancing College, Milton Abbey School, Stamford School and Wellington School.
Mr. Alex Battison, Head of Wellington School, said Nigerian families have long played an important role in the school’s international community. Mr. Michael Punt, Head of Bromsgrove School, highlighted the strong interest from West African students, citing the wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities available.
Ms. Henrietta Lightwood, Global Director at Cardiff Sixth Form College, added that Nigerian families place significant emphasis on academic excellence and progression to top universities — values that align closely with the school’s mission.
