A Lagos-based family is facing a heartbreaking double health crisis, as both a mother and her infant daughter battle life-threatening conditions, prompting an urgent appeal for public support.

Mrs. Folashade Balogun, a former private school teacher, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 invasive breast cancer and is currently receiving treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). Her condition has required intensive care, including eight chemotherapy sessions, each costing over ₦200,000, alongside medications to manage pain and boost her immunity.

Despite her ongoing treatment, Balogun’s condition remains critical. She was scheduled for a life-saving surgery last year, but the procedure was delayed due to a nationwide health sector strike. The surgery is now estimated to cost about ₦6 million—far beyond the family’s financial capacity.

Tragically, the crisis deepened as her 20-month-old daughter, Ademola Oluwatiresimi Tabitha, is also battling a serious health condition. The toddler is currently undergoing an MRI and biopsy for suspected rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive tumor discovered behind her left thigh.

The burden of caring for both patients rests on the shoulders of Mr. Oyinade Ademola, Folashade’s husband, who works as a teacher at a private school along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. As the sole breadwinner for the family of four, he has struggled to meet the mounting medical expenses despite support from relatives, friends, and colleagues.
