The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that no fewer than 2.2 million candidates will sit for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scheduled to begin on April 16 across more than 900 accredited centres nationwide.

In a statement issued in Abuja by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, candidates who registered for the examination were strongly urged to print their notification slips ahead of the exercise to confirm their examination details.

According to JAMB, the UTME will be conducted in phases over several days at designated computer-based test (CBT) centres, making it essential for candidates to know their exact date, time, and venue in advance. The Board emphasized that early printing of examination slips would help candidates avoid last-minute confusion and logistical challenges.

“Candidates are strongly advised to print their examination slips in order to confirm their examination date, venue, and time,” the statement read. “Each candidate has been assigned a specific schedule, and it is important they arrive at their centres well ahead of time for proper screening and accreditation.”

The Board directed candidates to access their slips via its official website, noting that familiarity with examination centres prior to the test day could significantly ease movement and reduce anxiety.

JAMB also disclosed that this year’s UTME will feature enhanced security measures aimed at eliminating examination malpractice. Both candidates and CBT centre operators were warned to adhere strictly to the rules, as any form of misconduct would attract severe penalties.

With millions of candidates set to compete for limited admission slots into tertiary institutions, the Board reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent, credible, and hitch-free examination process.
