The Forum of Education Secretaries across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State has endorsed the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Nureni Adeniran, as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Friday, the forum said Adeniran possesses a strong understanding of governance and administrative processes, describing him as well-positioned to lead the state effectively.
“The SUBEB chairman is a grounded administrator with unequalled competency and consistency, and his administrative experience places him in a strong position to lead Oyo State effectively,” the group stated.
The forum explained that its endorsement reflects a commitment to sustaining good governance in the state, adding that SUBEB under Adeniran’s leadership had recorded notable improvements in infrastructure development, school rehabilitation, transparency in teachers’ recruitment, and overall learning outcomes.
According to the statement, Adeniran’s reforms have significantly strengthened basic education delivery across Oyo State. It further praised his leadership style, describing him as accessible, humble, and committed to resolving challenges within the education sector.
“Adeniran has demonstrated his love for the state through his fair dealings with every member of the forum across different zones in Oyo State,” the statement added. “His interactions with education stakeholders have always been marked by humility, accessibility, and a commitment to problem-solving.”
The forum also described him as a visionary leader who has shown sincerity of purpose and dedication to improving basic education, noting that its endorsement goes beyond politics and is rooted in performance and competence.
It added that Adeniran’s close engagement with grassroots education administrators had given him firsthand insight into challenges affecting schools and learners, expressing confidence in his preparedness for higher leadership responsibilities.
