The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has ordered immediate monitoring and inspection of schools across the state to ensure compliance with safety standards and readiness for the new academic term.

The directive, issued by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, comes ahead of the official resumption for the third term on Monday, May 4, 2026, for all public and private primary and secondary schools, including Government Technical Colleges.

According to a statement from the ministry, inspection teams will be deployed statewide to assess key areas such as environmental sanitation, safety compliance, availability of learning facilities, and the punctual resumption of students and staff.

School administrators have also been urged to resume promptly, maintain accurate records, and ensure that teaching and learning activities begin without delay.

Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining high standards in the education sector, emphasizing that adherence to safety and sanitation protocols remains a top priority.

The government further called on stakeholders—including school owners, teachers, and parents—to support efforts aimed at ensuring a safe, orderly, and productive academic term across Lagos State.
