Muhammad Kamalud-deen University, Ilorin, has recorded a major breakthrough in Nigeria’s higher education landscape, securing full accreditation for all 13 academic programmes presented before the National Universities Commission in November 2025.
The achievement marks a 100 per cent success rate for the institution, an outcome described as remarkable given that the university commenced academic activities less than three years ago.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rasheed Jimoh, said the accredited programmes cut across the Faculties of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences, as well as Science, Computing and Information Technology, covering disciplines such as Accounting, Economics, English, Islamic Studies, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering and Physics.
According to him, the NUC’s approval followed a rigorous evaluation process which confirmed that the programmes met national benchmarks in curriculum quality, staffing, infrastructure, library resources and institutional governance.
With the accreditation secured, the university is now fully eligible for National Youth Service Corps mobilisation, ensuring that its graduates can participate in the mandatory national service without limitations.
The institution has also recently undergone an institutional accreditation exercise as part of efforts to transition from a provisional to a full operational licence, a move that further strengthens its standing within Nigeria’s university system.
Prof. Jimoh attributed the success to early planning and strict adherence to regulatory standards, noting that the university prioritised quality assurance from its inception.
He also emphasised the institution’s commitment to inclusivity, stating that students from diverse religious backgrounds are given full freedom to practise their faith without discrimination.
The milestone positions Muhammad Kamalud-deen University as one of the fastest-growing private universities in the country, with a clear focus on academic excellence, innovation and long-term expansion.
