The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, has expelled eight students for involvement in examination malpractice during the first semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The decision was contained in a letter signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Mr. Eli Gbadufu, and made available to journalists in Lokoja on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the expulsion was approved by the university Senate at its 30th regular meeting held on April 29, 2026, following recommendations by the Examination Misconduct Committee.
The university said investigations confirmed that the students violated academic regulations as outlined in the institution’s Student Handbook, specifically Page 33, Item 19, which deals with examination misconduct.
“The affected students were found guilty after due process and in line with the university’s academic policies,” the statement noted.
The expelled students were identified as Ogedemgbe A. Nelson, a 100-level Economics student; Yakubu Abdulrazak Adavize, a 300-level Library and Information Science student; and Olowu Samuel Ayomide, a 200-level Mining Engineering student.
Others include Usman Bilal, a 400-level Information Technology student; Adams Michael, 200-level Information Technology; Ale David, 200-level Mechanical Engineering; Habiba Muhammed, 100-level Business Administration; and Mustapha Faith Adetutu, 200-level Agricultural Science.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy on academic dishonesty, the university management stressed that the institution remained committed to maintaining high standards of integrity and discipline.
“The move signals CUSTECH’s determination to preserve the value of its degrees and maintain discipline across all faculties as it continues to grow as Kogi State’s premier science and technology university,” the statement added.
The management also urged students to comply strictly with the university’s rules and regulations, warning against any conduct capable of undermining the credibility of its academic system.
