The management of Osun State University has officially presented the instrument of appointment to the Group Managing Director of BOVAS and Company Limited, Mrs. Victoria Samson, as the new Chancellor of the institution.

The presentation was made on Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo State, by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Odunayo Adeboye, on behalf of the Osun State Government and the university’s Governing Council.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the appointment reflects Mrs. Samson’s outstanding achievements in business leadership, philanthropy, and contributions to national development.

Professor Adeboye stated that the university and the Osun State Government are confident that her wealth of experience and leadership qualities will further strengthen the institution’s academic advancement and global relevance.

Reading from the appointment letter signed by Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the appointment took effect from May 10, 2026, for an initial term of five years.

The letter explained that the appointment was in recognition of Mrs. Samson’s accomplishments in entrepreneurship, humanitarian service, and commitment to national growth.

It further stated that, as Chancellor, she would serve as the ceremonial head of the university while also providing moral, strategic, and inspirational support toward achieving the institution’s vision and long-term development goals.

Professor Adeboye also revealed that the university would soon announce the date for her formal investiture ceremony.

The Vice-Chancellor commended Governor Adeleke for allowing merit, competence, and integrity to guide appointments within the institution and across the state.

He noted that the governor has consistently encouraged the university management to identify and appoint individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to the growth of the institution without political interference.

Responding after receiving the appointment letter, Mrs. Victoria Samson expressed appreciation to the Osun State Government, the university’s Governing Council, and management for the confidence reposed in her.

She described the appointment as a great honour and pledged her commitment to supporting the continued growth and development of Osun State University.

Mrs. Samson also assured the institution of her readiness to contribute toward strengthening its academic excellence, reputation, and impact within Nigeria’s higher education sector.
