Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s education reforms, describing them as a strategic tool for addressing insecurity and promoting national development.
The leaders made the remarks during separate engagements focused on education, youth empowerment and national security, stressing that quality education remains one of the most effective ways to tackle the root causes of crime, violence and social unrest.
Governor Sani noted that investments in education, skills acquisition and human capital development would provide young people with opportunities for self-reliance, reducing their vulnerability to criminal activities and recruitment by violent groups.
Similarly, the Defence Minister said sustainable security cannot be achieved through military action alone, emphasizing that education plays a critical role in preventing extremism, unemployment and social exclusion. He described the Federal Government’s reforms in the education sector as a long-term strategy for building a more secure and prosperous nation.
The Christian Association of Nigeria also praised the administration’s efforts to improve access to education, strengthen school infrastructure and expand opportunities for young Nigerians. CAN urged continued investment in the sector, noting that an educated population is essential for national stability and economic growth.
Stakeholders at the event highlighted key government initiatives, including support for basic education, skills development programmes, digital learning, student financing and measures aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children.
They maintained that strengthening the education sector would not only improve learning outcomes but also help address insecurity by creating opportunities, promoting social inclusion and fostering responsible citizenship among the youth.
The speakers called for sustained collaboration among governments, religious bodies, communities and development partners to ensure that education remains a central pillar of Nigeria’s development and security agenda.
