The IA-Foundation has strengthened its campaign to tackle Nigeria’s out-of-school children crisis, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to quality education for vulnerable and underserved children across the country.
The foundation said its interventions are focused on reducing the number of children who remain outside the formal education system, a figure estimated at about 15 million, one of the highest globally.
Through scholarships, school enrolment drives, learning support programmes and community engagement initiatives, the organisation has continued to provide educational opportunities for children facing barriers such as poverty, displacement, gender inequality and limited access to schools.
Speaking on the foundation’s efforts, officials stressed that education remains a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering children to reach their full potential.
The organisation noted that addressing the out-of-school crisis requires sustained collaboration among governments, development partners, civil society groups, communities and the private sector.
According to the foundation, special attention is being given to girls and children in vulnerable communities, where cultural, economic and security challenges often limit access to education.
The IA-Foundation also called for increased investment in educational infrastructure, teacher development and child protection measures to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn in a safe and supportive environment.
Education advocates have commended the foundation’s interventions, describing them as a valuable contribution to national efforts aimed at improving school enrolment, retention and learning outcomes.
