The University of Port Harcourt has vehemently denied any association with a scandalous incident involving a lecturer allegedly caught molesting a female student in his office. The viral 51-minute video circulating on social media purportedly shows the unidentified lecturer touching the student’s breasts, sparking widespread outrage and speculation. Initial claims suggested the incident occurred within the university’s Faculty of Engineering premises, which the institution has refuted.

In a statement released by Dr. Sam Kpenu, the Head of Information, Publications, and Public Relations at the University of Port Harcourt, the institution clarified that after an exhaustive investigation, it was confirmed that no such incident took place on its premises, nor involved any of its staff members. Dr. Kpenu emphasized that the allegations circulating on social media are entirely baseless and unfounded.

While condemning all forms of misconduct, especially those affecting the safety and well-being of students, the university urged the public and the media to exercise caution in spreading unverified information. Dr. Kpenu stressed the importance of verifying news authenticity before dissemination, underscoring the institution’s commitment to truth, fairness, and justice in protecting its academic community. UniPort remains dedicated to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for all its members, reaffirming its stance against misinformation and unjust tarnishing of reputations.
