The acting Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Prof Razaq Kalilu, has unveiled plans to diversify the institution’s academic offerings with the introduction of six new degree programs. Speaking at the 16th convocation ceremony held in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Prof Kalilu emphasized the university’s commitment to evolving educational standards in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision. The new programs, spanning disciplines such as Psychology, Mass Communication, Linguistics, Yoruba, Theatre Arts, and Political Science, reflect LAUTECH’s proactive approach to meeting the dynamic needs of its student body and the broader society.

Prof Kalilu outlined the university’s recent initiatives, including the establishment of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, as part of its strategic expansion efforts. He underscored the significance of these additions, highlighting their potential to enhance the academic landscape and provide students with diverse learning opportunities. Pending approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC), LAUTECH aims to admit students to these programs in the current academic session, signaling a progressive step towards academic excellence and institutional growth.

In his address to the graduands, Prof Ayodeji Omole, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, urged them to uphold the values of knowledge, integrity, excellence, service, and progress instilled by LAUTECH. As ambassadors of the university, Omole encouraged the graduates to demonstrate leadership and contribute positively to society, reflecting the caliber of education they received. The convocation ceremony served as a testament to LAUTECH’s commitment to producing well-rounded individuals equipped to tackle the challenges of the future with confidence and competence.
