The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has unveiled the results of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), revealing that over 70% of candidates scored below 200. According to Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the board registrar, out of the 1,904,109 candidates who sat for the examination, a staggering 64,624 results are currently under investigation, indicating potential irregularities.

The UTME, held across 118 towns in 774 computer-based test centres (CBT), saw a total of 1,989,668 candidates registering for the examination. Despite the considerable number of registered candidates, a significant portion scored below the benchmark of 200, raising concerns about the quality of preparation and the overall standard of education among candidates.

Addressing reporters at a news event in Bwari, Mr. Oloyede expressed the board’s commitment to ensuring the integrity and fairness of the examination process. The investigation into the 64,624 results under scrutiny underscores JAMB’s dedication to upholding standards and uncovering any potential malpractices that may have occurred during the examination.

The release of the UTME results provides valuable insights into the performance of candidates and highlights areas for improvement in the educational system.
