Incidents of violence on university campuses have once again come under scrutiny following the circulation of a disturbing video capturing a student viciously assaulting her peer.

On Monday, a clip surfaced on social media platforms capturing the shocking moment as the perpetrator, wielding a cane, repeatedly struck her colleague while shouting derogatory remarks.

In the distressing footage, the aggressor can be heard screaming at the victim, demanding retaliation for perceived insults. “I want to see you fight back. You called me a bastard? Is it because I have kept silent? I must draw blood from you today and no one can stop me,” the attacker exclaimed.

As the assault unfolded, the victim is seen desperately attempting to flee to safety, pursued relentlessly by her assailant. Shockingly, the video also reveals the presence of several bystanders who failed to intervene, allowing the violence to escalate unchecked.

The circulation of the footage has sparked widespread condemnation on social media platforms, with users expressing outrage and calling for swift action from the institution to address the incident.

In response to the outcry, Tope Akinbisoye, the spokesperson for the university, confirmed that the students involved in the viral video were summoned before the school’s disciplinary panel on Monday.

Akinbisoye disclosed that the university management is awaiting the outcome of the panel’s deliberations to determine the appropriate course of action. “The school is aware. They faced the students’ disciplinary panel yesterday. We await the decision of the committee probably today. And we will issue an official statement. All of them involved faced the panel,” Akinbisoye stated.
