The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has refuted a viral report claiming that an unidentified lady obtained a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score without participating in the examination.

The report, circulated by an online platform, relayed allegations made by a Facebook user, Gozie, who raised concerns about a girl purportedly receiving UTME scores despite not taking the exam. According to the report, technical issues at the girl’s examination center prevented her from sitting for the test.

In response, JAMB released a statement on Tuesday through its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, denouncing the report as false. The Board labeled it as malicious and an attempt to tarnish its reputation.

JAMB urged the public to disregard such “irresponsible publications” and clarified that its investigation revealed some individuals fabricated results by editing details sent to other candidates and presenting them as authentic results from the Board.

Furthermore, JAMB challenged anyone with similar claims to provide evidence, including details of the alleged fraudulent activity and the associated phone numbers. The Board emphasized its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of its systems and processes, reiterating that neither its results nor procedures had been compromised.

The statement concluded by highlighting JAMB’s determination to maintain the integrity of its operations and thwart attempts by malicious actors to sow confusion and misinformation.
