The controversy surrounding the sudden demise of Joshua Daniel, a 100-level student of Veritas University, Bwari, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), continues to escalate as new revelations emerge. The National Hospital, Abuja, has released the autopsy report on Daniel’s corpse, adding fuel to the already burning questions surrounding his death.

Meanwhile, a law firm, A&G Solomon Chambers, acting on behalf of the deceased’s parents, Daniel Ejigbo and Ifeoma Ejigbo, has written a letter to the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, seeking intervention in what they describe as the “mystery” surrounding their son’s passing.

The autopsy report, obtained exclusively by PREMIUM TIMES, indicated that Daniel died from “asphyxia,” a condition caused by oxygen deprivation leading to unconsciousness or death. This revelation has sparked further skepticism from the parents, who allege that the university’s narrative about their son’s collapse at the gym contradicts the evidence of “stab wounds” found on his body.

In response to these allegations, the university authorities have vehemently denied any cover-up or negligence, asserting that they made concerted efforts to save Daniel’s life but were unsuccessful. They have called for transparency in the investigation and urged the police to release the autopsy report to the public.

The FCT police command has initiated an investigation into the matter, promising to uncover the truth behind Daniel’s tragic demise. Despite the ongoing probe, the university management has appealed to the public to respect the memory of the departed student.

The unfolding saga began on May 2 when the university announced Daniel’s death in a statement, attributing it to a sudden collapse while exercising in the institution’s gymnasium. However, the parents’ letter to the minister paints a different picture, alleging negligence, cover-up, and an unsafe environment on the university campus.
