Federal Government approved the establishment of the National Citizens Value Brigade in primary and secondary schools across Nigeria to address the erosion of good morals among youth.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced this initiative after a Federal Executive Council meeting, highlighting its aim to instill a culture of values that the country can be proud of.

The first phase of the intervention will cover 50 schools, with an investment of approximately N47.5 billion. Maimuna Umar, director of the physical planning unit, stated that four new buildings will be constructed to enhance the learning environment, acknowledging the neglect many federal schools have faced over the years. The initiative marks a significant effort by President Bola Tinubu’s government to revitalize educational standards and facilities.

Stakeholders are urged to ensure the successful execution of this project, learning from past mismanagement of similar initiatives. State governments are encouraged to follow the federal example, emphasizing the need for periodic renewal of educational institutions. The support of alumni and communities is also essential in restoring these schools to their former glory, as education remains crucial to national development.
