The House of Representatives Committee on Defence has vowed to enhance the effective utilization of resources allocated to Nigeria’s military colleges, including the Nigerian Defence Academy, Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, and the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji.

During an oversight visit to these institutions in Kaduna, Chairman Babajimi Benson stressed that funds must be directed towards upgrading training facilities, acquiring advanced equipment, and supporting research and development initiatives as the 2025 budget cycle approaches.

Benson underscored the importance of maintaining high standards of transparency and accountability within these agencies, asserting that the National Assembly is committed to enacting sound legislation to strengthen Nigeria’s defence sector. He remarked, “This visit is essential to ensure that our armed forces are fully equipped to face the challenges ahead,” emphasizing the committee’s readiness to collaborate with military institutions in achieving this goal.

The committee also called for continuous cooperation and open communication between the military institutions and lawmakers. Benson urged the agencies to engage with the committee regularly to address challenges proactively, secure timely funding, and identify areas needing urgent intervention.
