President Bola Tinubu has reshuffled his cabinet after a year in office, dismissing several ministers in response to criticism over their performance, particularly in the education sector.

Notably, Minister of Education Prof. Tahir Mamman was let go after backlash against his policy barring candidates under 18 from taking the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a bid to enhance governance, Tinubu has appointed seven new ministers and reassigned several others, including Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission, following the dissolution of the Ministry of Sports Development. The Ministry of Niger Delta Development has been renamed to the Ministry of Regional Development, expanding its responsibilities to oversee multiple regional commissions.

The president emphasized the need for his appointees to fully commit to the administration’s goals of growth and efficiency, aiming to address public dissatisfaction and strengthen the government’s capacity to fulfill its promises to Nigerians.
