The Minister of Defence, Alh. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has assured his commitment to supporting the Nigerian Military School (NMS) in Zaria, vowing to uphold its high standards and enhance its contributions to the nation’s security.

During a meeting with the NMS Ex-Boys Association, led by National President Dr. Sunday Ngegu, the minister underscored the school’s historic role in the Nigerian Armed Forces and its importance in national defense since 1954.

The association advocated for an expanded NMS curriculum to include training in modern defence fields, such as robotics, cyber security, and Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Ngegu stressed the need to adapt the school’s focus in line with technological advancements, aligning with the Ministry of Defence’s goal of reducing reliance on foreign defence supplies by fostering homegrown expertise.

The association also requested improvements in staff positions, classroom upgrades, and the installation of solar power to address power instability. In response, Alh. Abubakar promised to consult with service chiefs and allocate resources to meet these needs, affirming, “All the requests are genuine and needed. Count on me. I will put in my best.”
