Enugu State government, led by Governor Peter Mbah, has pledged to rehabilitate the State Veterinary and Veterinary Investigations Centre at Achi in Oji River.

This effort aims to support livestock industry growth in the state. The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Patrick Uburu, during a facility inspection tour on October 30, accompanied by Hon. Osita Eze, representing Oji River constituency, and a team of engineers from the state’s agriculture ministry.

During the tour, Dr. Uburu mandated the school’s Principal, Dr. Ugwu Johnson Ugo, to submit a comprehensive report within a week detailing the requirements for the school’s revitalization.

Dr. Uburu also assured that the ministry would address the ongoing issue of license issuance for graduates, responding to concerns raised by former students regarding their inability to secure practice licenses since 2015.

Hon. Osita Eze, who previously advocated for the school’s restoration in the State Assembly, emphasized the institution’s historical role in veterinary training for the Eastern region. Members of the community, represented by Mr. Ofoezie Gilbert, expressed gratitude and promised cooperation to support the state government’s efforts in revitalizing the facility.
