The Nigerian government has officially removed federal universities and other state-owned tertiary institutions from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), as confirmed by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).

This move aligns with a recent directive aimed at restructuring payroll management for academic institutions.

Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF, Bawa Mokwa, announced that the IPPIS platform for federal tertiary institutions would be deactivated following the government’s decision. Mokwa explained that the shift was a “natural response” to the directive, with November salaries now set to be processed through the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS).

As part of the transition, federal institutions are instructed to prepare payrolls in Excel format and submit them to IPPIS for verification.
