The Federal Government has suspended 13 students of Federal Unity College (FUC) in Enugu State for six weeks following their alleged involvement in bullying. The Ministry of Education’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folashade Boriowo, announced the suspension on Wednesday in Abuja, explaining that it was a decisive response to a viral video showing students engaging in bullying acts.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, ordered the suspension after reviewing the video, which sparked public concern over student safety and behavior at the college. According to Boriowo, the ministry is collaborating with security agencies to conduct a full investigation, examining any potential links between the students and external groups that might encourage such behaviors.

The ministry has also implemented immediate security measures at FUC Enugu, reinforcing the presence of law enforcement to ensure a safer environment for all students. This intervention is part of a broader strategy to curb bullying in schools nationwide.

Additionally, the Ministry of Education is reviewing and strengthening existing safety protocols at federal unity colleges across the country. Dr. Alausa emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining safe learning spaces and addressing any threats to students’ well-being.
