Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) will honor First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, with the institution’s prestigious fellowship award during its 36th convocation ceremony. This announcement was made by the institution’s Rector, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, during a pre-convocation media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday. Dr. Abdul praised the recipients as individuals who embody YABATECH’s values of dedication, integrity, and excellence, emphasizing their potential to inspire students.

The convocation lecture, titled Developing Exportable Alternatives for Nigeria’s Economic Recovery, will be delivered by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima chairing the event. Dr. Abdul highlighted Sanwo-Olu’s insight into economic growth and said the lecture would draw on his experience governing Nigeria’s most prosperous state to address pressing economic issues.

YABATECH will also be graduating 8,139 students who have shown dedication and resilience in their academic pursuits. According to Dr. Abdul, this group exemplifies the institution’s commitment to producing industrious and skilled graduates who can contribute significantly to society.

The convocation ceremonies will commence with a special Jumat service, followed by an interdenominational church service on Sunday at the Yusuf Grillo Art Auditorium on campus. The rector noted that these events reflect the college’s commitment to inclusivity and community, offering students, staff, and guests a chance to celebrate YABATECH’s enduring legacy in Nigerian education.
