As the 2024 Batch C National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation program approaches, the Lagos State Coordinator, Christiana Salmwang, has urged staff to prioritize prudent resource management and effective teamwork. Salmwang made the call during a step-down session at the NYSC Lagos State Secretariat in Surulere, following the resolutions of the Annual Management Conference (AMC) and Pre-orientation Workshop.

Addressing staff, Salmwang highlighted the importance of discipline, teamwork, and leadership to ensure the success of the three-week orientation program, set to begin on Friday, November 29, 2024. She emphasized the need to avoid misinformation and rumour-mongering while guiding Corps Members with clarity and empathy. Reflecting on Lagos State’s consistent reputation for exceptional reception of Prospective Corps Members, Salmwang urged staff to maintain this standard with warm and welcoming attitudes.

In preparation for the orientation course, stress management strategies were also discussed. Miss Ejiro Paul, from the Lagos State Ministry of Health, delivered a talk on mental well-being, recommending mindfulness techniques, such as breathing exercises, and the therapeutic benefits of music. She also advised staff to exhibit patience and tolerance toward young Corps Members to reduce stress during interactions.

With staff equipped with these strategies and a renewed commitment to collaboration, the NYSC Lagos State team is poised to deliver another successful and impactful orientation exercise for the 2024 Batch C Corps Members.
