CCThe Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has awarded a N250 million grant to the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Effurun, Delta State, for the establishment of the Abdul Samad Rabiu Center for Corrosion Research.

The grant, part of ASR Africa’s Tertiary Education Grants Scheme (TEGS), aims to enhance educational services in higher institutions across Nigeria.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Dr. Ubon Udoh, MD/CEO of ASR Africa, reaffirmed the commitment of ASR Africa and its chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, to advancing education and research in Africa. He noted that FUPRE was selected due to its excellence in education and its significant contributions to oil and gas research.

FUPRE Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, expressed profound gratitude for the grant, highlighting its transformative potential. He stated that the center would equip researchers with advanced tools to combat corrosion, benefit local and global industries, and position Nigeria as a leader in addressing corrosion-related challenges.

The center is set to empower students with cutting-edge training and provide critical solutions to the oil and gas sector, reinforcing Nigeria’s role in global innovation and industry practices.
