Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has directed the immediate reinstatement of staff of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, who were disengaged by the previous administration in March 2023.
The affected staff were dismissed by the Special Intervention Team (SIT) under former Governor Godwin Obaseki after protesting for payment of their outstanding salaries and entitlements.
The announcement, made on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor, emphasized that the reinstatement reflects Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to the rule of law and justice. The governor described the disengagement as unjust, particularly as it targeted members of the Academic Staff Union of the University who had advocated for their rights.
Governor Okpebholo’s administration stated that it prioritizes equity, fairness, and correcting injustices. The reinstatement, the statement noted, underscores the administration’s dedication to upholding natural justice and fostering good governance in the state.
