The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University chapter, has declared an indefinite strike over unresolved welfare and institutional issues.
The union cited the absence of a pension scheme, unpaid salary arrears, lack of a governing council, and non-payment of Earned Academic Allowances (EAA) as reasons for the action. ASUU-TSU Chairman, Dr. Garba Mbave Joshua, said the strike followed the expiration of a 30-day ultimatum issued to the state government on July 4, 2024. He lamented the exclusion of staff from national minimum wage adjustments, inadequate funding of the institution, and the government’s failure to fulfill repeated promises.
The union urged the public to pressure the state government to address the issues
