Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has inaugurated the Osi Campus of Kwara State University (KWASU), fulfilling his promise to complete abandoned projects and drive development across all regions of the state. The commissioning, celebrated by stakeholders and community leaders, marks a significant milestone in expanding access to quality tertiary education in the southern axis of Kwara.
Speaking at the event, the governor emphasized that the completion of the Osi and Ilesha Baruba campuses was part of his administration’s broader agenda to stimulate economic growth and foster social inclusion. “This is more than just a project commissioning. It is a lesson in history and a practical step toward driving inclusive growth and prosperity across the state,” he said. Governor Abdulrazaq highlighted his administration’s commitment to sustainable development, citing the state-of-the-art facilities at the campus, which include lecture halls, laboratories, and serene learning environments recently certified by the National Universities Commission.
The governor underscored the challenges faced during the project, including inflation and the abandonment of the campus under previous administrations. “What you see here bears testimony to the power of strategic planning, prudent resource management, determination, and good conscience,” he noted. He expressed hope that the Osi Campus would become a hub for academic excellence and innovation, benefiting students, the local community, and the state as a whole.
The inauguration was attended by senior government officials, academics, and community leaders, including the Speaker of the Kwara House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi, represented by Hon. Ganiyu Gabriel Abolarin, and KWASU Chancellor, Dr. Johnson Bamidele Adewumi. Governor Abdulrazaq called on the host community and the university to maintain a peaceful coexistence and maximize the opportunities provided by the new campus. “Osi Campus will not just be a physical structure but a beacon of hope and a testament to our hard work for future generations,” he added.
