The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) on Monday launched a four-day Promotion Exercise Revised Structure Training Programme (RSTP) for teachers eligible for promotion in 2025. The training, conducted simultaneously across all education districts in the state, aims to equip teachers with the necessary skills for higher-grade responsibilities.

The RSTP, a mandatory requirement for promotion, follows the initial Spadev scoring stage of the process. At training venues such as Ikeja Senior Grammar School and Government College, Agege, TESCOM Chairman, Mrs. Victoria Peregrino, encouraged participants to be diligent, passionate, and attentive. She urged them to reflect the knowledge gained in their interactions with students. “Take this exercise seriously as it will improve your ability to impart knowledge and foster better relationships with your students,” Peregrino advised.

The programme also aligns with the T.H.E.A.M.E.S Plus Agenda of the Lagos State Government, which emphasizes 21st-century teaching skills. Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, Mrs. Adebopo Oyekan-Ismaila, reiterated the importance of the training, urging teachers to remain committed and goal-oriented. The training, she said, would enhance their classroom effectiveness and contribute to the overall quality of education in the state.

A participant, Mrs. Yetunde Onikoyi, expressed gratitude to the government, describing the programme as impactful. “This training has significantly improved my classroom management skills,” she remarked. In Lagos Education District Six alone, over 280 teachers are participating in the exercise, which continues throughout the week.
