The Vice-Chancellor of Anchor University, Ayobo, Lagos, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to the vision of its founding father, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry. Speaking during the university’s fourth and fifth combined convocation ceremonies held on campus last weekend, Prof. Bandele emphasized that Anchor University would remain steadfast in delivering holistic education that integrates academic excellence, moral integrity, and spiritual growth.

A total of 292 students from the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic sessions graduated at the event, including Ifeoluwa Babayemi, who emerged as the overall best graduate with a perfect 4.0 CGPA in Industrial Chemistry. Prof. Bandele highlighted that the university’s mission aligns with Pastor Kumuyi’s vision of raising God-fearing leaders who uphold high moral values while contributing to societal development. He stressed that Anchor University prioritizes discipline and adherence to its rules, ensuring that students and staff maintain ethical standards.

In his address, Prof. Bandele, a Professor of Education Evaluation and Computer Education, listed unacceptable behaviors in the university, including examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and indecent dressing. He explained that penalties are in place for violators to maintain a peaceful and progressive learning environment. He also noted that all the university’s programs, including newly accredited ones like physiology and software engineering, have received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC). Additionally, students must earn two professional certifications alongside their degrees to ensure they graduate as well-rounded and employable individuals.

In his valedictory speech, the overall best graduate, Ifeoluwa Babayemi, expressed gratitude to God, the university management, lecturers, and his parents for their unwavering support throughout his academic journey. Babayemi shared his personal story of overcoming academic challenges, attributing his success to determination and hard work. He encouraged his peers to remain committed to their goals, regardless of obstacles.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Pastor Nkemjika Obinna, and the Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Steven Odi-Owei, also lauded Pastor Kumuyi for his vision and dedication to the university. They described Anchor University as a transformative center of excellence built on values of character, competence, and courage. Pastor Obinna revealed that the university has grown significantly, with its student population now exceeding 2,500, and pledged sustained efforts to further its impact.
