The Senate of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, has unveiled plans to implement stringent penalties for students involved in anti-social behaviors, particularly indecent dressing. The announcement was made by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, during the matriculation ceremony for 4,781 newly admitted students.

Addressing the students, Iwe expressed concern about the growing trend of behaviors that conflict with the university’s moral code. He emphasized that MOUAU is a community dedicated to fostering decency and moral decorum, shaping students who excel in both character and academics. The VC reiterated the institution’s zero tolerance for indecent dressing, cultism, and examination malpractice, affirming that the university will not accommodate rascals or immoral activities.

The Vice Chancellor urged male and female students alike to maintain modesty and decency in their attire, highlighting that such standards reflect the values of the institution. He emphasized that adherence to these expectations is crucial to maintaining the university’s reputation as a hub for both academic and moral excellence.

In addition, Iwe encouraged the newly admitted students to take advantage of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), an initiative by the Federal Government to assist students in meeting their academic financial needs. He assured them that fresh students would become eligible for the loan after completing their first year, offering a pathway to ease their educational expenses.
