Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi, presiding over an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, yesterday adjourned the case involving Olori Naomi Silekunola, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife; Oriyomi Hamzat, proprietor of an Ibadan-based radio station; and Fasasi Abdulahi Babatunde, principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, till March 24, 2025.

The adjournment follows a request by the defense counsel for a longer date to review the legal advice recently provided by the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). This case comes two weeks after the defendants were released on bail by an Oyo State High Court, which ruled against their earlier remand under a holden charge—an action deemed legally inadmissible by the defense counsel.

The defendants were initially remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Agodi, Ibadan, on the chief magistrate’s orders. Their bail application was later granted by the High Court, allowing them temporary freedom pending further legal proceedings.

The case, now slated for mention in March, continues to draw public attention due to the high-profile nature of the individuals involved. Further developments are expected as the court reviews the DPP’s legal advice.
