The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a student of the Federal Polytechnic in Nasarawa for the alleged murder of his friend. According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ramhan Nansel, the arrest followed a report by Madam Mercy Bassey, who informed the police about a violent altercation between two tenants in her house. Security personnel swiftly responded to the scene and found Ibrahim Matthew, a National Diploma (ND2) Computer Science student, lying in a pool of blood.

Despite being rushed to Nasarawa General Hospital, Matthew was pronounced dead upon arrival due to the severity of his injuries. SP Nansel revealed that the suspect, John Gambo, an ND2 student in Banking and Finance, was apprehended shortly after the incident and confessed to attacking his friend with an axe and a knife. The police have since recovered the blood-stained weapons, which will serve as vital evidence in the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the altercation, which has left the Federal Polytechnic community in shock. The case will proceed through the legal system, as the police prepare to charge Gambo with the alleged murder of his fellow student.
