Governor Nasir Idris has approved and disbursed N2.7 billion for the allowances of Kebbi State students studying both locally and internationally. The Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, made the announcement on Wednesday during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, stating that the funds would cover students’ upkeep, accommodation, and travel expenses across various universities worldwide.

The commissioner disclosed that N117.2 million was specifically allocated for 25 Kebbi State students studying in Egypt, ensuring their upkeep and accommodation needs were met. Additionally, the state government covered the cost of return tickets for eight students who recently graduated from a private university in India, amounting to N14.4 million.

Abubakar-Tunga emphasized that the total disbursement surpasses N2.7 billion, benefiting both local and international students. He commended Governor Idris for his commitment to education, stating that the administration has continued to prioritize academic and moral excellence in the state’s tertiary institutions.

He further urged the people of Kebbi State to support the governor’s initiatives, highlighting that such educational investments would enhance human capital development and contribute to the overall progress of the state.
