Nkwerre, Imo State — Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has called for policy reforms, legislative actions, and strategic administrative efforts to foster collaboration between public and private schools in Nigeria. The governor emphasized that such synergy is crucial for achieving improved educational standards across the country.

Governor Uzodimma made this proposition during the maiden Convocation Ceremony of Hezekiah University, Ishiala Umudi, in Nkwerre Local Government Area. The institution, the first private university in the state, used the occasion to honour the First Lady of Imo State, Barr. Mrs. Chioma Uzodimma, with a Doctor of Public Administration (Honoris Causa) award.

During the event, Governor Uzodimma highlighted the importance of bridging gaps between public and private institutions to create a unified educational framework that delivers quality learning experiences for Nigerian students.

“I strongly believe that with deliberate policies, legislative backing, and intentional administrative synergy, we can foster stronger cooperation between public and private educational institutions. This will go a long way in enhancing the quality of education in our state and the nation at large,” the governor stated.

Prior to the convocation ceremony, Governor Uzodimma commissioned a newly constructed students’ hostel and classroom complex built by the university. He commended the institution’s Proprietor and Founder, Most Rev. Prof. Daddy Hezekiah, who is also the leader of Living Faith Church Incorporated, for his dedication to advancing education through private-sector involvement.

“The vision to establish a private university that complements public educational institutions is commendable,” Uzodimma remarked, encouraging further collaboration between the state government and private educators.

The convocation ceremony, marked by celebration and recognition of academic achievements, underscored the growing role of private universities in advancing educational standards in Nigeria.
