Lagos, Nigeria – The President of Human Capital Africa, Oby Ezekwesili, has emphasized that the defining trait of strategic leadership is the ability to articulate and pursue a long-term vision beyond short-term political and economic pressures. She made this assertion during her keynote address at the University of Lagos Business School’s (ULBS) 2025 maiden quarterly business seminar, held at Tayo Aderinokun Hall.

Speaking on the theme, Strategic Leadership and Wealth of Nations: The Nexus, Ezekwesili cited Singapore’s transformation under the leadership of Lee Kuan Yew as a prime example. She highlighted how Yew’s policies prioritized education, infrastructural development, and the cultivation of a highly skilled workforce, leading to remarkable economic progress.

In his keynote address, the Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, Tunde Bakare, echoed similar sentiments. He called for a new generation of motivators capable of inspiring citizens to realize Africa’s vast potential. Bakare further advocated for a league of visionaries dedicated to institution-building, effective governance, and skillful leadership that prioritizes long-term national development over immediate political gains.

Both speakers underscored the necessity of trans-generational leadership that focuses not just on the next election cycle but on sustainable growth for future generations. Their messages served as a clarion call for African leaders to embrace strategic governance models that drive enduring economic and social transformation.
