The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) branch, has strongly condemned the alleged plan to disproportionately share the recently released ₦50 billion earned allowance among university-based unions. In a statement issued by the branch leadership, the union expressed deep dissatisfaction over what it described as a recurring pattern of injustice and marginalization against non-academic staff in the distribution of government funds.

SSANU FUTA accused relevant authorities of favoritism, claiming that academic staff unions have repeatedly received a larger share of such allowances, leaving other unions with a meager portion. The association warned that any attempt to replicate this imbalance would provoke strong resistance and could destabilize the already fragile industrial harmony within Nigerian universities.

The union called on the Federal Government and the National Universities Commission (NUC) to ensure a fair and transparent allocation process that reflects the contributions of all staff categories. SSANU also urged other university-based unions to embrace equity and solidarity, warning that persistent neglect of non-teaching staff could lead to renewed industrial actions.
