David Amakiri, an 18-year-old undergraduate of Biomedical Technology at the University of Port Harcourt, has emerged the winner of Nigeria and Africa’s first Christian reality television show, The Xtreme Search Reality TV Show. Amakiri triumphed over eight other finalists, including university graduates, to clinch the grand prize of N1 million, after excelling in various assessments such as essay writing and general knowledge tests spanning politics, medicine, current affairs, and Christian religious knowledge.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria in Port Harcourt shortly after his victory, Amakiri, a native of Kalabari in Rivers State, credited his success to determination and rigorous preparation. “I really prepared hard for this competition, and I’m quite humbled to have emerged the winner among other equally talented contestants,” he said. “All I can say is that I will do everything possible to live up to the high expectations.”

Mr. Abuoma Chuka, President and Founder of the Xtreme Search show, presented the cash prize at the closing ceremony of the programme’s maiden edition. He explained that the initiative, sponsored by Psalmist Missionary Global, was conceived to address the moral and spiritual decline in society by promoting Christian values, cultural integrity, and Godliness among the youth. “This project offers a more meaningful alternative that positively impacts young people, unlike other reality shows that tend to glorify immorality,” Chuka remarked.

Beyond promoting moral excellence, the programme was also designed to empower youths struggling with unemployment. Chuka noted that the contestants were chosen through an application process that included online submissions and physical screenings. He expressed plans to expand the show and raise the prize fund in future editions, while appealing to individuals, corporate organisations, and government agencies to support the show’s humanitarian mission and amplify its reach.
