Republican governor Ron DeSantis kicked off his 2024 presidential campaign tour in Iowa on Tuesday by pitching himself as the best alternative to Donald Trump.

Though he did not name the septuagenarian ex-president directly during his speech, DeSantis, 44, nevertheless evoked Trump, attempting to draw a study of parallels and contrasts.

Federal University Oye-Ekiti Dismisses Reports of Millipede Invasion on Campus

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has dismissed reports of a supposed invasion by a battalion of millipedes on its campus as fake news. In a statement, the Chief Security Officer of the university, Paul Ogidi, explained that the incident of insects spreading across the campus was due to the rainy season. The university management noted the issue a week ago and promptly fumigated the campus grounds to deal with the problem.

Furthermore, Dr. Olawale Musibau, the Chief Medical Director of the FUOYE Health Centre, commented that it was not uncommon for multiple centipedes to appear on the campus grounds during this time. He added that the management had already taken action by fumigating and carrying out necessary sanitary measures to prevent the problem from worsening. Similarly, Professor Tajudeen Opoola, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Administration, assured students and faculty that there was no cause for alarm with regards to the centipede invasion. He confirmed that plans were already underway to take care of the overgrown grass around the campus.
