In a remarkable gesture of corporate social responsibility, Keystone Bank Limited has donated a state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre to the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Maiduguri, Borno State — a major boost to digital literacy and healthcare education in the region.
The fully equipped facility, unveiled during an official handover ceremony, marks a significant step in rebuilding the educational infrastructure of a state long impacted by insecurity and underinvestment.
“At Keystone Bank, we believe that investing in education is one of the most powerful ways to drive national development,” said a representative of the bank. “This ICT centre shows what is possible when the public and private sectors work together to empower future generations. We hope the facility will foster a culture of creativity, digital literacy, and lifelong learning.”
The bank also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Borno State Government’s broader agenda of expanding quality education, particularly in underserved and conflict-affected areas.
The event was attended by top dignitaries from the Borno State Government, including Mustapha Babagana Mallumbe, Acting Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Budget and Planning, who hailed the donation as a “milestone in rebuilding Borno’s educational infrastructure.” He called on other private sector players to take a cue from Keystone Bank’s example in supporting national development through educational investments.
Also present were Lawan Abba Wakilbe, Borno State Commissioner for Education; permanent secretaries from the state ministries of health and education; Hadiza Yahaya, Provost of the College of Nursing and Midwifery; members of the State Executive Council and House of Assembly; and John Chabri, Regional Head (North-East) for Keystone Bank.
The ICT centre is expected to significantly improve access to digital resources, strengthen research capabilities, and support the college’s mission of training competent healthcare professionals to serve the growing needs of Borno State and beyond.
The initiative highlights the critical role of private-sector partnerships in rebuilding and modernizing education in Nigeria, especially in regions facing infrastructural and socio-economic challenges.
