Emotional Scenes in FCT Suburb As Pupils Jubilate Over First Borehole 11 Years Since Establishment.

The L.E.A. Primary School Saburi 1 District, Dei-Dei Abuja, was filled up at the commissioning of its first borehole in over a decade.

It was gathered that the pupils in the school did not have access to water since its establishment in 2012.

The borehole was donated by the Askevana Foundation, led by its C.E.O. Ambassador Eva Erokoro

Varsity body advocates better funding for education, infrastructural facilities

The Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) has identified inadequate funding as a major challenge confronting educational development in Nigeria.

The Association noted that government has failed to make adequate provision for education funding in the budget as recommended by the United Nation (UN).

N2bn debt: I’ll follow up on states owing – Niger Gov, Bago to NECO

Governor Muhammad Umar Bago of Niger State has volunteered to assist the National Examination Council, NECO, in recovering its debt from other states of the federation.

The Governor made this disclosure during a visit by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of NECO, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, at the Government House, Minna.

President Tinubu’s students’ loan Policy

In partial response to the perennial crises of inadequate funding and ASUU strikes in federal universities, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Students’ Loan Bill into law. Under this law, indigent Nigerian students will get interest-free loans to see them through their stay in government-owned higher institutions.

Beneficiaries are expected to repay the borrowed sum once they start working, that is, two years after the mandatory national service.

Kano gov pays 2023 NECO fees of 55,000 students

The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the immediate settlement of NECO fees for 55,000 students of public schools to enable them to sit for the 2023 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.

Governor Yusuf made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on some of the achievements recorded by his administration within the last 20 days at the Government House.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has concluded plans to flag off a campaign for restoration of standard, peace and security in Nigeria’s education system, saying that the system is under severe threat of possible collapse.

In a pre-event press briefing on Saturday, the National Treasurer of NANS, Chinyelu Okolie, also called on the federal government to also increase funding for education in Nigeria for the advancement and total revamp of the educational system.
