In a world where technology and innovation are reshaping every sector, Nigeria’s educational institutions must step up and adapt to changing times if they are to remain competitive, says Anthony Nwachukwu Isiani, Chief Executive Officer of Schools Development and Support (SDS) International Limited.

Speaking to journalists at the company’s Amuwo-Odofin headquarters in Lagos, Isiani stressed that schools are strategically positioned to drive innovation, but must be willing to work closely with researchers, developers, and other experts to achieve excellence in knowledge transfer and delivery.

“The world of learning has evolved tremendously. Any educational institution worth its salt must also be ingenious if it wants to compete favourably,” he said. “From the architecture of the school building to classroom setups and recreational spaces, every detail must be designed with the interests of pupils and their teachers in mind.”

Isiani urged schools to use the ongoing summer classes and long holiday period to “reset and reengineer” themselves, identifying weaknesses and finding creative ways to address them.

Under his leadership, SDS has developed over nine homegrown solutions to make teaching not only more effective but also fun, engaging, and seamless. From chairs, desks, writing tablets, and markers to audiovisual equipment, Isiani says all SDS products are designed with safety, durability, and functionality at their core.

“Our products are built to last and meet the strictest child safety standards. They promote creativity, interactive learning, and a stimulating environment,” he noted.

A mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, the Enugu-born entrepreneur says his vision is to support humanity through “education engineering.” SDS’s range includes laboratory fittings, children’s theme parks, remote-controlled learning screens, display boards, lockers, and even mini table tennis courts for toddlers — all manufactured in-house.

According to Isiani, this approach not only equips schools with tailored, quality tools but also sets the stage for a more engaging and future-ready learning experience.
