Kano Gov, Yusuf begs TETFund for more intervention in state-owned universities

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has appealed for more intervention projects from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) at Yusuf Maitama Sule University and Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil.

The governor made the appeal on Monday in Abuja during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono.

ASUP, in a statement seen by Legit.ng on Wednesday, May 11, said the decision was taken after its emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

Anchor varsity names UTME top scorer 2023 ambassador

The Anchor University, Ayobo, Lagos, has named the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination top scorer, Kamsiyochukwu Umeh of Deeper Life High School, Mowe, Anchor University Young Ambassador for the year 2022/2023 session.

Umeh scored 360.

She was also given a scholarship to study any course of her choice at Anchor University.

US holds pre-departure orientations for 700 Nigerian students

The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos have hosted a pre-departure orientations for approximately 700 students who are benefiting from the 2023 U.S. Mission’s EducationUSA advising services in Nigeria.

These Nigerian students would soon depart for study in the United States, including 73 Opportunity Funds recipients.

Zulum gives N62 million scholarships for Law, French language students

Governor Babagana Zulum has approved the release of N62 million as scholarships for indigent students of Borno in law schools and those studying immersion courses in the French language.

The executive secretary of the State Scholarship Board, Bala Isa, disclosed this on Tuesday in Maiduguri.

GOVERNOR Abba Yusuf of Kano State had said most Nigerian universities can’t survive without intervention from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund.

Yusuf,who noted particularly that most facilities in the nation’s public universities were products of the federal government’s tertiary institutions intervention agency,appealed to the Fund to keep the pace for survival of the the institutions.
