The Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its Deputy Registrar, Students’ Affairs, Alhaji Onike Rahman. Onike, a native of Oyo town, reportedly became indisposed shortly after delivering a lecture on campus on Thursday and was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care, but was later confirmed dead.

In a statement issued on Friday by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Opeyemi Olawore, on behalf of the Rector, Professor Akinola Akinlabi, the management described the incident as a great shock to the entire school community. “It is with a heavy heart but in submission to the will of Almighty Allah that the Rector announces the death of a highly resourceful staff and seasoned administrator, Alhaji Onike Rahman,” the statement read.

The Rector commiserated with the registry department, staff, students, friends, colleagues, and especially the wife, children, and family of the late administrator, noting that his passing was a colossal loss. He praised Onike’s dedication and contributions to the growth of the institution, adding that his absence will be deeply felt across the college.

Alhaji Onike Rahman joined the services of the college in 2008 as an Administrative Officer II and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Registrar. He was an alumnus of Saint Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo, the University of Ibadan, and Olivet High School, among others, leaving behind a legacy of academic excellence and service.
