President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate construction of 600-capacity hostels for the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, as well as the road linking the Body of Benchers Secretariat in Jabi District with Nile University.

In a statement by the media aide to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, on Tuesday, Tinubu directed Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, to commence work on two hostels—one for male students and another for female students—each with a 300-bed capacity. The road project is expected to ease traffic congestion, particularly around the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

Similarly, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the disbursement of N596.6 million as car and housing loans to 807 teaching and non-teaching staff of public secondary schools in the state.

According to the Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, Michael Boluwade, N381.5 million will go to 382 beneficiaries as car loans, while N215.1 million will be shared as housing loans to 425 staff. He said the gesture is part of the governor’s commitment to improving welfare and boosting morale, adding that repayment will be through deductions from beneficiaries’ salaries.

Oyebanji has, in the past two years, rolled out several welfare initiatives, including the recruitment of teachers, provision of infrastructure, payment of minimum wage, and earlier disbursement of N400 million housing and vehicle loans to over 1,400 education workers.
