Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Professor Eunice Omonzejie as the new Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.

A statement issued Monday night said the appointment takes immediate effect, following the recommendation of three candidates by the university’s governing council, from which Omonzejie emerged as the preferred choice.

The government congratulated the new vice chancellor, urging her to bring her wealth of academic and leadership experience to bear in advancing the institution’s mandate of producing world-class graduates, as well as strengthening research and innovation.

Professor Omonzejie, a renowned scholar of French and Francophone African literatures, is a long-serving academic in AAU’s Department of Modern Languages. She is widely recognised for her contributions to African and Francophone literary studies, gender and cultural studies, with several published works to her credit.

Beyond her academic strides, she has been an advocate for women in education, notably serving as president of the AAU chapter of the National Association of Women Academics, where she championed mentorship, research, and advocacy for female academics and students.
